‘Geophysics in Geothermal Energy Today and Tomorrow’ – Virtual conference in Jakarta, 12-14 October

A virtual conference will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia on 12-14 October, hosted by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists.

Discussion will cover current best practice – in data acquisition, processing, and integrated modelling technologies – latest technical developments and emerging technologies, and will explore future requirements for both conventional high enthalpy projects and the increasingly viable lower temperature ones.

Dr Andrew Jupe of Altcom will be presenting a paper on Day 3 of the conference in the section entitled- “Emerging technologies and geophysics for the wider geothermal context”

Implementation of an Induced Seismicity Protocol for the United Downs Deep Geothermal Power Project, United Kingdom’ is co-authored by Dr Andrew Jupe and Ryan Law of Geothermal Engineering Limited. The paper will discuss the design, implementation and operation of an induced seismicity management protocol for the United Downs Deep Geothermal Power (UDDGP) project in Cornwall; the first development of its kind in the UK. It considers the relative benefits of “magnitude” versus “ground-vibration” based protocols, the setting of appropriate operating thresholds and then demonstrates the practical implications based on the experience at UDDGP.

The presentation will be at 9.10  a.m. (UK time) on Thursday 14 October.
